How do I configure my Netscape 6.x eMail client?

Select the “Tasks” menu from Netscape 6 browser then select “Mail”

When the Mail window opens, select the “Mail/News Account Settings” option of the Edit menu

Select the Type of account you want to set up and click “Next.”

Now you will add your identity. First tell the system what will show in the “From” field of your eMail messages. Usually this will be your name. Next tell the system your eMail address.

Next, click the “Next” control to open the server information window. Tell the system what type of incoming mail server you have (usually POP but not always. If in doubt, contact your mail service provider).

Now you will tell the system the name of your incoming mail server. This is usually given to you by the mail service provider (probably your ISP) and will most often take the format of servername@yourISP.com. The window below shows “mail.example.net” as an example setting.

Click the “Next” control to open the User Name settings window. Enter the username exactly as given by your ISP and click “Next” to open the Account name window.

Give the account any name that will help you differentiate it from any other mail accounts you might have or get in the future. Now, selecting the “Next” control will give you an opportunity to review the new settings.

Look these over carefully. When you are satisfied that they are correct, click “Finish” to establish the settings within your Netscape 6 Mail client.
